About Kromi

Kromi Logística do Brasil

The largest Tool Management operation in Brazil.

The group's history begins in 1964, in Hamburg, with Krollmann & Mittelstädt KG, a cutting tool representative in northern Germany. Kromi Logistik was created in 2002 out of a spin-off of that operation, on a premise that was unusual in the sector: separating whoever sells the tool from whoever looks after it. Rather than distributing brands, the company takes on the entire tooling cycle inside the client's plant and is paid for what the client actually consumes — the Tool Management model, independent of any manufacturer.

The KTC, Kromi's first modular automatic tool dispenser, reached the market in 2000 and has been developed ever since: it is the same equipment that today sits on the shop floor of Brazilian clients. The group counts thirteen locations in Germany and abroad and is part of the EWIE Group of Companies.

The Brazilian operation was founded in 2008, born from the potential created by growing globalisation and Brazil's increasingly active role in world industry.

Initially limited to Santa Catarina, the company soon saw the need to expand into São Paulo, the state that concentrates most of the country's industry. In 2010 the second base opened, in Capivari (SP), moved years later to Campinas as a strategic decision.

Keeping up a fast pace of growth and facing demand in other states, a third base opened in 2016 in Porto Alegre (RS), serving companies in the Metropolitan Region, the Serra Gaúcha and the Missões region.

In 2021 a fourth base opened in Rio de Janeiro, bringing the operation closer to clients in that region and consolidating Kromi's presence across the South and Southeast.

In 2022 the scope took in PPE as well. The same controlled dispensing used for tools was applied to personal protective equipment, where cost comes with a legal obligation to prove: the right equipment, valid certification and a recorded handover per employee.

In 2024 Kromi widened its scope beyond the cutting tool: MRO management joined the offer, bringing to maintenance, repair and operations items the same method of consumption curve, standardisation and controlled withdrawal.

Also in 2024, Pre-Setting was restructured. The service had been provided ad hoc at some clients; it became a line of its own, systematised under the Kromi management model, with a preparation cell and a dedicated team inside the plant.

Today Kromi has four sites — in Santa Catarina, São Paulo, Rio Grande do Sul and Rio de Janeiro, with its head office in Joinville (SC) — and more than 70 projects across six states (SC, SP, RS, RJ, PR and MG), the largest tool management operation in Brazil. Each site has a complete service structure, with its own storeroom, KTC System spare parts and a management team.
